‘We’ve cling ons on the starboard bow……’ One very small starfish was hanging on for dear life to the anchor and its friend to the chain. Both safely returned to the water we left Burnt Island and headed off, in the rain, for Newton (Loch Ranza) north of Arran.
While slowly drifting past a forestry clearance area we sighted the ear of Nessie as she floated on the surface with wooden expression.
Another lovely scenic passage, some of which we could see through the rain. We had a mixture of sailing with little or no wind and motoring in very choppy water; the wind was definitely variable as forecast. We picked up a mooring buoy briefly at South Newton but were rolling about uncomfortably, so decided to move on to the Campbeltown anchorage where we knew the shelter would be more favourable.
During the second passage of the day the sea state became very lively and for most of the time we experienced fog. It was grey fog so made little difference to our viewing pleasure!
We anchored at the same spot as on 30th July, in exactly the same conditions – raining and blowing a hoolie.
I look forward to reading your blog every evening now! Thanks for sharing your adventures…stay safe and hope the weather picks up and the sailing improves xx
