Sailing with the Ship’s Cat new journey starts

Can we go sailing now!!!

Sailing with the Ship’s Cat blog 1 for the belated 2020 season.

We have spent the last few weeks getting Talavera ready for our sailing season, since the lockdown we haven’t had access to the boat. During the lockdown I have spent a few quid on some new stuff for the boat. We now have an inverter (3000 watts serge 6000 watts) so we can cook with an electric wok and have an electric kettle. I also brought 2 new solar panels and have had a gantry fitted to hold them. We also now have wifi onboard that will pick up a signal some 25 miles offshore.

Row have been busy stocking up the boat and we are just being lifted back into the ogin on the afternoon of 9 July 2020. The plan at present is to leave Gosport about midday on Saturday 11 July and cross to Cowes to fuel the boat and then head west out of the Hurst Channel as the tide turns fair and make our way to St Agnes on the Isles of Scilly in one hit, should only take us a couple of days arriving on Monday morning.

We have also built in a few contingencies with bolt holes at Swanage, Weymouth, Dartmouth, Plymouth and Falmouth, the weather forecast looks favourable although the winds are looking a little fickle but generally in the right direction being Northwest through Northeast to East.

Watch out for the journey to come………..
