Last night two other boats joined us in the anchorage but it was too choppy to take the dinghy over and splice the mainbrace with them.

This morning there was a temporary break through the cloud and in one direction there was a definite glimmer of sunshine. The hills look much more inviting now that they can be seen in their shades of green and there are quite a few impressive houses along the road leading into town.
Having thought about donning wet weather gear and rowing ashore we opted for the easy option and went alongside next to the lifeboat in the town’s marina, a bargain at just £25 per night – unfortunately the toilets and shower block are shut due to Covid 19.

Glancing through the estate agent’s window we saw an end of terrace, 4 bedroom, house for sale at just £35,000 – guess it comes with a free umbrella. Sadly most of the shops have closed down, or are up for sale, but the few places which were open, including local gin and whisky distillery outlets, sold quality produce and the seafront end of town was pretty to walk around.

We came by accident across the Linda McCartney memorial garden, which was very peaceful and her bronze statue posed in a serene manner – not a keyboard to be seen.

The ABC Tour (another bloody church tour)….
