Monday 27th July 2020 – Arklow (Eire) to Bangor (Northern Ireland) – 128nm – 22hrs

321 miles since we left the Scillies
Some pretty tough miles

It was a good decision to hug the Irish coastline because the conditions were more favourable than offshore; however the sea was still very confused with some fairly large waves – so glad we weren’t on ‘Princess Matilda’ with Timothy Spall!

The dolphins seem to enjoy the rough stuff

Erring on the side of comfort we put away the mainsail, reefed the foresail and put the cockpit tent up (which has windows all the way around and we can still work the winches when needed from inside) – oh so toastie warm all night. Outside it relentlessly poured down, the sea looked dark – the sky was definitely dark – and in the morning the only change was we could actually see the difference between the water in the sea and the water coming from above!

The harbour entrance is there somewhere?

Now safely alongside at Bangor, our breakfast is cooking and we’ll catch up with some sleep before heading into town later today…. guess what? It’s raining!

The Ship’s Cat can be a cheeky buggar at times!
What’s yours is mine, right 😂😻
